Dentistry Disrupted Australia
June 27th, 2020

Dr. Ricky Hamami

Dr. Ricky Hamami was born in Baghdad Iraq and moved to Canada at a young age. Growing up in Burlington Ontario, his family owned a business next door to a dentist which sparked his interest in dentistry. He attended the University of Guelph and graduated with a Bachelors of Biomedical Sciences and then went on to attend the University of Melbourne for his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree.

While in dental school, Dr. Hamami was the social representative for the University of Melbourne dental association. He had a passion for continuing education and completed various courses including the SPEAR curriculum, All On 4 implant residency and Invisalign certification during dental school. While preparing for the Canadian dental board exams, Ricky and his classmate Zeyad found that there was a lack of resources specific to the exam. They decided to build a platform specifically curated for the Canadian dental board exam that was evidence-based, accessible and affordable for students across the world. That is when they decided to create Dentist2B.

Living in sunny Melbourne Australia still couldn’t convince Dr. Ricky to stay away from Canada as he decided to move back to be close to his family and friends. He currently works in private practice across the GTA and loves learning from various mentors. He recently teamed up with good friend Dr. Omid Azami to co-host on the Noobiedentist podcast alongside his classmate Dr. Zeyad Hammad. Outside of dentistry, Dr. Hamami is an avid sports fan and has taken up a new passion for hacking up golf courses and building his home gym.

Dr. Zeyad Hammad

Dr. Zeyad Hammad completed his undergraduate Bachelor of Medical Sciences degree at the University of Western Ontario where he was named to the deans Honour list. He then ventured to Australia to receive his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the prestigious University of Melbourne. During his studies Dr. Zeyad has always been involved in community activities and was part of the UWO varsity swimming team during his time at Western University. Dr. Zeyad is very passionate about dentistry and has been a mentor to many dental students during his studies. He is also an active member of the dental community and has travelled to multiple countries to learn from pioneers in the dental field and bring this knowledge to London. Dr. Zeyad is a member of the Canadian Dental Association, Ontario Dental Association and Academy of General Dentistry Outside work, Dr. Zeyad loves to spend his time with his family and friends. He also enjoys fishing, traveling, and exploring new cuisines around the world.
